April banging the piano in action
Mommy like to learn some new tones by holding the pieces on one hand, and play with the right hand. Here's April's imitation version.
Little turtle
April learnt this riddle from our daycare lady, Candy. There a few more, we didn't get a chance to record. The good thing about going to school is Mommy got to learn some new stuff too.

Sickness record:
This was a devastating winter for April's health...
1. 2 times pneumonia occurance. 1st time it started with the right lung. With medication, it still developed into the other lung. April's lungs got xray'ed couple time to make sure it's all cleared. And for the 2nd time, first prescrition didn't really work, Mommy brought April to urgent care and demand a stronger antibiotic. Timing is couple months after starting preschool, it's a school of >80 kids. The germ pool is much much bigger, therefore lots of cold and fever. April's immune system got all battled up. Even our ped told us, she does not desire to see us again.
2. Ear injury, this is Mommy's fault. Mommy bought April a $1 Target necklace, it's not really a necklace, it's really a choker for adult. April has small neck, so it won't choke her neck. It started fine, she love the new necklace. Late afternoon we were riding to have a dinner gathering with Purdue friends and families. In a hurry, April struggled to put it on herself again, she did successfully put it on herself in the morning. But not this time, she released the choker too early, and both ends shot into her ears. It's the spring loaded kind. She cried for much prolonged period of time, we were really worried. But she recovered. When we got to the dinner venue, she was eating, and actively playing with Anzel and Levaunt. So we thought that's end of the story. It was just a punch, there is no big harm. Next morning, April 15, her birthday, she turns 3. We were planning to bring her to San Jose Children Discoveries Museum. When Mommy woke her up, Mommy found 2 splashes of dried blood on the pillow. Mommy freaked out. There are dried blood around both of her ear tunnels. We rushed to ER, the doctor told us both of her ear drums are ruptured and seeing an ENT doctor is a must and should be asap. But it was a Sunday, we spent the day staying at home, like a "热锅上的蚂蚁" . Mommy and Daddy was feverishly searching the web about ear drum rupture. We got the tool from Walgreen, just like the one doctor uses to look into ears. Mommy was trying to master the tool, all she can see is raw bloody reddness inside April's ears. Mommy also put the necklace into her own ears, the pain was indeed excruciating. Grandma from Fuzhou even rushed out to find an ear specialist to ask for opinion and any possibility of hearing impairment. (Grandma used to be a nurse there therefore she has "connections" to get to doctors quickly and easily) Mommy was on the phone with the specialist at night, whom confirmed Mommy there shouldn't be any hearing damage, ear drum is just a membrane, it will grow back, just no water into the ears for couple months, which means she'll need to have her ears covered with wax when taking bath. We got the next morning appt with our ped, who already tired of seeing us, told us to stay home and watched for a week, use a special liquid to wash the ears, since it's all thick dried blood, it's not clear to her whether the ear drums are really ruptured. It seems like she's in no hurry to refer us to an ENT doctor and she doesn't quite believe what the ER doctor said. 1 week past, still with all the unknown swirling around Mommy's head, we came to see our ped again. Again, she couldn't confirm whether the left ear drum is ruptured, she's quite confident the right ear drum is not ruptured, or already grew back. Finally we got to see an ENT who confirmed there is a rupture on the left ear, no rupture on the right ear. They also did a hearing test with April, and confirm her hearing is functioning as normal. There is no medication, only thing is no water into ear, just like the specialist from Fuzhou said. Put on ear wax when you wash her. And come back to check a month or so later. Our tickets to Shanghai already booked, Mommy also worried about the plane, if change of pressure will have any effect on her ears, we might need to postpone our trip. Doctor said, not at all. Without the ear drum, ear won't hurt at all during pressure changes, doh! And this is the long end of the story.
Mommy was self blaming for some time. If April really lose her hearing because of that stupid necklace, Mommy will hate herself for the rest of her life. April's future will be finished by that. Mommy will need to prepare herself to take care April for her entire life. How could she go to school? Would she ever be able to get married? The thought train is like a slide down to hell. Doctors' confirmation brings such a relief to Mommy and Daddy.
3. Allergy test again, as recommended by the previous allergist. We are so glad to know that April's no longer allergic to peanut. She also could eat all kinds of fish. Yet still no shrimp.

Videos from camcorder - 1 to 2 years old
April
3 parts of a girly occasion from April
Part 1: Measuring Mommy's shoulder using newly knitted cardigan from Grandma
Part 2: Instead of putting on Mommy's shoulder she would rather put it on hers
Part 3: Then back to put it on Mommy while obviously it's too small!
Chasing after Mommy...
At this age, cellphone is more interesting than toys...
Finally walking is a reality

Same here. The only thing I regretted most is we didn't film any video during her first and second year, except for the ice-cream one which is done by Daddy.

Sickness record:
1. Roseola, April probably got it from daycare. Mommy brought her to urgent care, doctor said it's something common to her age. Just a few days of fever, the body will gain the antibodies afterward. No medication needed.
2. Mild Pneumonia, probably developed from a common cold. Doctor prescribed antibiotics. April recovered in a day.
3. Red eyes, it was a few days of red eyes for April. Doctor prescribed antibiotic eye drops.
4. Daddy first notice April got reddness around her mouth when he feed her peanut butter jelly sandwich. Then the daycare lady mistakenly given April a small bag of peanut Ritz biscuit. April's overall body was red for couple days, though it wasn't itchy for her. Then we got April tested and found out she's allergic to peanut, salmon and shrimp. Therefore, no fish and no seafood for April on top of peanut.

Videos from the long forgotten camcorder
After Mommy created this blog, Daddy promptly reminded her there isn't only 1 video we took before April turn 2. There are whole bunches in that camcorder we got from grandma and grandpa. Therefore, the past weekend's duty is to get the wire from Fry's and start resurrection of videos that we haven't even watched ourselves before. Hopefully in a few days, we will have some here.
It's funny parents only picked happy times for recording/photographing. Following are good ones Mommy extracted from the camcorder, they show happy times but this doesn't mean there isn't any down time. As a matter of fact, there are numerous times when Mommy and/or Daddy are furious on April, because she's misbehaving, being unreasonable and incomprehensive. Mommy kept thinking why she deserved to be tortured by this little being. Unfortunately, those memory is very hard to nearly impossible to retreive. The mother nature plays magic to our brains and at the same for a person's sanity sake.
On her first birthday, we prepared a tray of objects for April to pick. It's a tradition Daddy knows of called "抓周"
Here is a website that explain what to be prepared. Mommy just got the link from Daddy and realized we didn't follow the recipe, oh well!
Then she does it herself relying on adjacent objects.
After crawling, the next step is standing still
8th month is a milestone, April started daycare and she learnt crawling from there
Daddy is massaging April's head in this clip
April has a strong urge to walk at that time, but she didn't really walk until 1 year old.
public void Playing() { while(1) { wha; } }
April saying da da da...
April is an easily self-amused person, just like Daddy
April yelling during tummy time
April was falling asleep on her high chair during dinner time. We can't hold our laughter watching her :P
April practising sitting on bed
April learnt grabbing and throwing and pushing toys, probably 4-5 months old
April is eating her finger in this video, probably sometime before 4 months old since her hair is not shaved yet.
April is pooping in this video, you can telling from her facial expression
April talking gibberish in the 3rd month
This clip is taken in the second month, after Mommy's sit month
This is taken right after delivery

Photos from birth to 1 year old
My memory is fading away, there is no way I can resurrect all the details the first year of April's life. The most I could provide are these photos with caption for as much as I could dig out of my brain.

Sickness record:
1. April was sound and healthy all the way until Mommy stopped breastfeeding when she turned 8 months old. Right at that point, April suffered 1 week diahrrea right before starting daycare, it was right after we got back from MN. Just a stomach flu according to the doctor, no medication. It's painful to see her not eating and keep pooping liquid. 1 week is a long time, she lost at least couple pounds from this diahrrea.
2. A month later, she had Tonsillitis, but doctor couldn't be sure whether it's bacteria caused or virus, he prescribed the antibiotic anyway. April had a full mouth of saliva and couldn't swallow anything. The antibotic works, she turned around over night.
3. Other time just cold, maybe couple time light fever. The daycare wasn't crowded yet, so the germ pool is still small. She remained as a chubby baby, her weight and height are at 50%.
